Hi, Im working on developing an excel solver sheet that has information regarding a factory production line. This includes the processes the product most go through until completion, the cycle time in each one of those processes as well as the success yield in each one. The output is determined is also determined by the headcount at that station, or in other words the man-hours invested in that station. Due to the fact that each station has a different completion time each station requires different time invested. My goal is to create a tool that allows the user to input the available headcount (or hours of labor per station) they are willing to invest in total, and allocate them accordingly to each station in order to reach a maximum output, thanks.

What parts are you having a problem with, and what have YOU tried so far?

Hi FDibbins thank you for replying.

Firstly, no absolutely not I am not seeking you guys to do it for me, it's a project I want to make sure I can make and understand on my own for my sake. I guess what I forgot to ask of you guys was to point me in the right direction. I'm pretty new to excel and my knowledge is limited, but I have already made a sheet in which I can manually input the headcount per station and get a net output using simple arithmetic functions and logic tests. However that is a game of trial and error. It works if I find a combination that satisfies the goal output of the production line, but it won't surely be the best way to allocate the headcount. I wanted to get some information on how exactly to create a macro and then insert and run a VBA code that allows me to do what I need. Basically I could use some good resources if you have any that can help me out, the ones I have seen don't do a good job explaining it.

If you already have a sheet with data and a model I would suggest you upload the file and hopefully there may be some forum members that can help you.

Don't forget to specify what you hope to achieve and as you have been working with this problem and you have ideas on how it should be solved and what is important but the forum member will see this problem for the first time and they need your input on the how and the why.
