    optimization

    i was wondering if anyone knew of a macro formula or any formula that would create an optimization button so that whenever you clicked the button it would select the best combination of three values in d2:f2 so that i2 will be the most minumum value possible

    Help us understand what you are asking. D2:F2 is only three cells...therefore whatever the SUM of those three cells...it is the minimum (and for that matter, the maximum) it can be.

    What are we missing?

    I2=SUM(D2:F2)

    More info, please

    yeah sorry that may help

    its kind of complex

    basically i am creating a forecast model where d2:f2 alpha, beta and delta values. (that all alter the forecast)

    i2 is the sum of squares of the errors between the forecasted data and the real values

    you need more info? what type?

    It sounds to me that the tool you need is Solver... found on the main menu under Tools>Solver.

    Look at the Excel VBA help on Solver.
