    Sorting Excel Rows NEED HELP

    Hello!

    I have a very interesting puzzle at work and I want to know if there is a solution;

I have two lists of data that I need to sort in Excel - we will call them list A and list B.

In each row of list A, there are two number values that match with another two values in list B.

These lists are not perfect matches of each other. Many of these number values have duplicates, others are nonexistent, and up until this point I have had to match these lists manually which can be vary time consuming; especially when I have thousands of rows to match.

My question is, is there a way to sort list B to match list A (every row side by side with it's match) based on the number values in the two columns while skipping the rows that have no exact or duplicate match?

can you attach a small sample file with data?

also, explain or manually enter results for some of the data.

I can't, it's private customer information. But I can say that the two rows are; dollar amounts, and account numbers.

difficult to help you without looking at data.
Can you fake the values? Enter some fake value [similar in structure] and change names as well.
Just enough to show format and structure.

Re: Sorting Excel Rows NEED HELP

    Just imagine two rows:

    07/06/2019 $150 9999999999 07/06/2019 150 9999999999

The trick is arranging list B to match list A. Say list B's match is 50 rows below list A's match. Is there a way to automatically arrange list B to match list A?

    still not clear.

    HTML Code:
you say two rows and then your data sample looks like it's all in one Row.
are you confusing Rows with Columns?
where is this? all in one row? what's in column A v/s B?

I answered a similar problem earlier - see if this helps (though the cell references are likely to be different to yours):

    https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...er-column.html

You will get faster responses if you attach a sample file, even if that file is "made up". Contributors give their time freely on this forum, so it's not a lot to expect you to devote some time yourself to help us to help you.

    Hope this helps.

I tried to separate the two, but when I posted it closed the gaps. The second date marks the beginning of list B.

Couldn't you just post an Excel file and replace the sensitive data with random stuff like 123 ABC?

Yes, it's true, I had read it, then got absorbed by a possible solution and forgot and posted.
My bad. Worst introduction ever, my 1st post.
