search for a tacking number in Colum A, and past todays date in Colum B

I need to create a macro to search for a tacking number in Colum A, and past todays date in Colum B and retain it. On the front sheet one cell is used to scan in the tacking number each time. Then press a button and the macro would search the next sheet for the same tracking number, past todays date in the next cell along and finally save the sheet. This sounds like a vlookup but when using a vlookup the date is not held due to the next tracking number being scanned on the front sheet. Any help would be appreciated.
