Make a index of sheet names on all workbooks

Really just trying to get a darn index of all the sheets! Loop thru files in documents, open the xl files and list sheets, then close them.

2nd problem. I get errors such as "Ambiguous name detected" ref to function name in the opened book- of couse, many were redundant, thus this is prefunctoray to consolidation. So, I have set
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application.WarnOnFunctionNameConflict = False
in the code just prior to worksheets.open and I ran it in immediate... however, when the new file opens, all those settings are overwritten by opened file.

Is there a way to discretly open a file? Like a hidden safe-mode? I just need sheet names, and text on sheets.
