Adjust a validation list from a cell entry or password entered by user

Hello,
I have finance sheet that has a validation list in Cell A4 that is linked to a named range. This list currently displays an entire list of accounts. I have been asked to limit or adjust this list based on the user to prevent all users from seeing the entire account list. I created new named ranges for each user. As a test I tried linking the validation list to cell C1 where a user could enter a value that would match a named range. The validation list doesn't load that named range and only displays the value in C1. My thoughts were to have each user select a unique ID and that would be the named range. I am trying to keep this simple. I am also open to a macro where the user will enter their name , enter a password and the validation list will adjust to that specific named range for that user which I already have defined. I may have 5-10 users but only have 5 now. I have researched this and can only find dependent lists. I cant have a list that others will see to set up a dependent validation list using an offset. Can someone offer some options
