Intermittent problem with keyboard inputting garbage characters.

Has anyone seen a problem where an excel VB programmed workbook occasionally interprets type characters incorrectly? This only happens when I first open the workbook. If I attempt to type an entry, sometimes the entry comes out as garbage. The interesting think is that I can hit the same character multiple times and it will return different characters. Initially I found that if I opened notepad to test the keyboard input, that it would work fine, then when I went back to my excel WB it would also work fine. The problem then does not reoccur until after the workbook is closed, then it intermittently reappears sometime later.

What I have found out is that I do not even have to type into notepad and then go back to the workbook for it to work. All I have to do is take the focus away from the WB and click on any other application, no typing necessary, then focus back on the WB and it works fine.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention when I initially posted this, is that I have reproduced the problem on two different systems. One running windows 20 pro and excel 2019, the other running windows 10 home and excel 365.
