Attach comment to cell using INDEX MATCH in VBA

    Hi guys,

I've only ever posted on here once before but the help I got was phenomenal! I am now needing to turn to you geniuses again!

So I've got a few sheets where I will type in an ID (E.G. ID0032.1) and then in the cell next to it, some text that I type, for arguments sake let's say their favourite colour. When that ID number appears (the data is always changing), let's say in cell A1, then B1 is an index match that pulls my comment and displays it next to the ID.

This has worked for me for a while however now I find myself needing to do the same but I would like this "favourite colour" to occupy a comment box, not a cell - the sheet is just too congested.

    I hope this makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm guessing I need VBA?

    Thanks again guys!

Re: Insert Comment using index match

If you do, I'll move the thread, but we'll need to see your sample workbook first.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

    Thank you!

I have attached a sample. It had lots of confidential information that I've stripped out so it looks bare bones but I've also included a better description of what I need in the workbook itself.

Thanks again everyone! Appreciate you using your free time to help!!

Re: Insert Comment using index match

This makes no sense to me whatsoever:

Normally I would type my comment here and have it appear in a cell next to B5 using index match. But in this case I would like it to find that cell B5 contains the same ID number as W5 and input the text here as a comment...
You might want to elaborate a bit. I can't visualise what you are after.

Hi, apologies i might be confusing things with my use of the word "comment" . I mean i would type the text i am now wanting to appear as a comment...

Does that make more sense? 

Right - just to be clear, note or comment? Either way, if it is possible at all (which I somehow doubt, but will be happy to be proved wrong), it will require VBA, so I'm moving the thread now.
