    Cross Country Timing/Recording Issues

    Hi there,

Needing some help with a spreadsheet which is principally designed to record Cross Country runners and tally up the points. I have attempted to integrate a timing feature into the Spreadsheet which by the user clicks on one button in the Score sheet which then records the time at the time of the click (when the race starts). Then as runners cross the line, another button is clicked to record the time they finished and then calculates their finishing time based on the start time and time when the button is clicked. I've copied the code from another spreadsheet but I think I have messed it up as the finishing time ends up in the wrong place. Can I please get some assistance in fixing it. I also would like to use a "hotkey" such as the Caps Lock key on the keyboard to make it easier than having to click on the button each time. I'm quite a noob when it comes to VBA and Macros so I would very much appreciate the help.

NOTE: I'm having trouble attaching it as it is 1.29MB which is to big to attach here. I don't know how else to get it to you to have a look at? Direct email??

Please ask any questions you may need to clarify the problem.

    Thanks!!

    Re: Cross Country Timing/Recording Issues

have you followed the instructions in the big yellow banner

    Welcome to the forum

Please attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Yes I have. Have you read any of my responses??

The original spreadsheet is 1.29MB. I am only able to upload a 1MB file or smaller.
It says invalid file when I attempt to upload a ZIP file.

Yes I have read your responses and I am trying to help you !
There must be something in your file that is causing 'file bloat' is it full of 'fancy' formatting and colours ?
Your file will certainly not exceed the 9.77MB limit of the zippped file therefore there is something in it the uploader does not like.
Is there anything in the code that can be mistaken for HTML coding that a firewall will block.

    Re: Cross Country Timing/Recording Issues

Ideally I would like the ability to time the race like in this spreadsheet, but have the ability for the race to by scored like the one I previously posted. A combination of the two would be perfect!

You don't need to delete it. You DO need to post a link to it.

Possibly so... or not. But I, for one, have only just seen that you have provided the link. Had you replied saying"done", I would have seen it hours ago.

    Members, feel free to help.

    Re: Cross Country Timing/Recording Issues

Are you manually entering participants names - i.e. not using the import as first example.
Post a mock-up of your anticipated layout for results report.
I hate sheets littered with formula, therefore if I proceed further it will be a VBA solution dependent upon complexity.

    Re: Cross Country Timing/Recording Issues

VBA solution - no onsheet formula - for anybody that is interested as OP has not replied so result pages are guesswork but results are there.
Competetitors are entered on list then transfered to 'Timing' sheet prior to event start.
After transfer of competitors to 'Timing' next press 'Reset' to prepare for start, Press 'StartTimer', to record finishers 'double click' on white bib numbers.
After end of event transfer the timings to the result pages.
    torachan.

p.s. the app is elastic - i.e. put as many competitors in as you wish everything should expand/contract to suit (present max 60 - just alter the page scroll area if you want more)
