Excel Hyperlink from a cell to a page in a pdf document

Sample of Excel Spreadsheet attached. I would like to hyperlink cell in Orange, to a page from a pdf document.

Currently the hyperlink only opens at Page 1. I have tried adding #page=? to the selected address.

I also need to send the spreadsheet and all the attached documents to my accountant. Is there a particular format so the hyperlinks are not lost.


I have attempted to upload a sample of the pdf files, without success. The four pages that were in the file totalled 5Mb

From the Adobe website:

If you use URLs containing local hard drive addresses (c:\folder\), you cannot link to page numbers or set destinations. With Adobe Acrobat 7.0 products, a link to a page number works only if you use HTTP or HTTPS locations.

So there is no way this would work for a file on your disk.

The solution shown by Croweater has the right to work, but it is under some condition. Again from the Adobe website:

HTML pages can contain links that open PDF files within a web browser by using an Adobe Acrobat product (Adobe Acrobat Professional or Standard, Adobe Acrobat 3D, or Adobe Reader) plug-in that is installed into supported versions of Netscape Navigator, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or Safari (Mac OS).

So, the browser must have a plug-in installed. All you need is free Adobe Reader.

I don't want to comment on other PDF readers because I have no experience.

Two variants:
1. If your PDF documents are in the same folder as the Excel file on your computer, the links will refresh automatically when you transfer the files to another person.
2. If the documents on your computer are in a subfolder of the folder containing the Excel file, you need to send this structure in a ZIP file. So in the ZIP file you will have an Excel file and a folder with documents. This folder does not have to contain all the files you have at home. Only send those that are required by the hyperlinks in the Excel file.

So, it is important that when creating hyperlinks in an Excel file, the files used in the links be in a specific location - either in the same folder or in a subfolder.

As an alternative, this works for me with Adobe Reader. So, you can revise the code to use like mentioned in message #2

The code opens page number 15 of the PDF file in Adobe Reader.
