Combobox not working as expected

i have the following snippet that loads up combobox2 with values. the problem is that when i type in the combobox, it doesn't fill out the control when i type in it. this is reproducible on a new book with new userform.

here is what isn't working:

but when i modify the code like so, then i can type in the box and it is filled out:

note that this does not happen with combobox1, it works as expected. i have replaced the control thinking that it was corrupt, but that didn't help.

What am i doing wrong?

turns out there was a space that i didn't see.
