Excel (MS?) disables macros unexpectedly, ut leaves the Trust Center not showing this

Every once in a while Excel 'suddenly stops working", and sends all sorts of rude messages back to the mother ship in Washington. It then restarts, and macros are disabled.

Bother - Oh well, I know how to fix that, and I head off to the Trust-Center Settings.

    But...

The Trust Center says that macros are enabled.

    Hmmm

Back to the app I'm working on. Try to start it up and I get the warning bar. (As if "Disable VBA Macros with notification" were set, but it isn't).

I've tried setting the selection to other things, and then setting it back, but no luck.

Has anyone experienced this, and if so, how do you fix it?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Attachment contains screen shots of both messages.

It is possible that the files are not trusted. I think last year MS made it significantly more difficult to run macros when a file is locked or not in a trusted folder.

That's a good point, Artik, but I've been developing this for a couple of weeks now, and this happened out of the blue.

Before MS crashed itself everything was fine (well, there were some capacity problems with lots of named constants, and another instance with Developer Dumbness (see my two recent posts)), but when it blew up and said it was letting MS know for me, it came back (right away) in a totally unusable state.

One thing I tried was to simply save it again, exit from Excel, and start over. This seems to have cleared it (but who ever knows).

Every other mainstream vendor I've ever worked with (going back to the early 70s) had classes where you could get the inside scoop on the quirks of the platform you are developing for/with. I'm not aware of this with MS.

    PS It's a revenue stream, isn't it!

All well for now - I think, but if it happens again, I'll reply to this post and squawk;-)
