Question Log Events without Displaying Alerts VBS

I have a pretty basic vb script that converts xls files to either xlsx or xlsm. I want to run this script on some tens of thousands or files, so I do not want any alerts to be displayed to the user. I get around this by setting DisplayAlerts to false. However, this prevents events from being logged and accessible within Event Viewer (control panel -> administrative tools -> event viewer). For example, some of these files have line print settings and other deprecated features, that I would like to have logged for historical purposes.

Is there another approach or something I am missing that could prevent any required user interaction with displayed messaged but allow events to be logged?
