Putting Array in Order from largest to smallest and matching names

    Hi!

I am trying to put the highlighted array in order from largest to smallest and have the names match together. However, the part that is tripping me up is I do not want the table to have to appear twice, like it is currently, as it would clearly just be the same data just in different order.

Currently, I am adding player totals together and using HSTACK to create an array of names coinciding with the player totals. Which is what you see highlighted.

I have tried using many varieties of the INDEX, MATCH, LARGE function to get the names in order but to no avail.

Furthermore, I know you can just use the filter function in excel but I was trying to have it be dynamic and do it automatically.

    Any help would be appreciated!

This is my first time posting anything anywhere so if you need more information I can try and supply it for you!

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum.

    Try the SORT function.

In case you can't do it on your own, please follow instructions on yellow banner above to upload a sample wb.

    Good luck!

    Welcome to the Forum Hwitt01!

A picture has very limited value. Consider attaching your actual file so we can make the changes right in your file for you.

Using a formula, you would use the SORT function.

But if you don't want the data to appear twice, you will have to sort manually. turn your data into a structured table (select the data, click Insert > Table, and check "My table has headers"). Then you can click on the dropdown for the header of the Total column, sort Largest to Smallest, and the entire table will be sorted.

If you want it dynamic and automatic, without the data appearing twice, you have to use a VBA solution.

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this to work for?

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your product is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel products are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2306). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.
