VB Code locked, but no input offered for password

I understand the process for protecting the VB code and locking the view. However, when someone logs into visual basic through excel and clicks the expanding code, a password prompt appears.

How/Why does the password prompt not always appear? I have had other people modify my code and when they email me the spreadsheet with the data requested, they have put their own lock on the file and I can no longer access it. How do I lock the code where it will not prompt for a password, but it will tell the person that the code cannot be viewed.

    Thanks.

Im not sure if you can do as asked, however you can protect your vb code with your own password, change it so that no one else knows it. Do this by going to the VB editor right clicking on your workbook (upper right) and go to protection. Put a check in the box that says lock for viewing and imput your own password.

    I hope that helps

I added a password to visual basic, but the excel password area may still be selected (tools>protect...).

How would I protect the file such that even the excel password option would be greyed out?

    Thanks again.
