will edit that from San Diego and I want my client in Chicago to work on the

I have no idea what the attitudes are among you, your employee and your
client about sharing access to your respective computers, but assuming
you have a high tolerance for sharing, you might want to consider the
free software offered by LogMeIn, whose free software I use and with
whom I have no other relationship.
