Assign 'Selection.ShowDetail = True' sheet to a variable?

Hi,

I'm using Exel 2000

I need to assign the opened sheet of the .showdetail method of a pivot table to a variable. Currently, I follow the 'selection.showdetail = true' statement with 'Set [variable name] = Activesheet.

However, this is falling over as the detail sheet is taking longer to open than the code takes to execute, so the 'Activesheet' ends up being the pivot table sheet and not the new, detail sheet?

I'm sure this is very straightforward for those of you with more than my limited VBA experience but I'd be very grateful if anybody could advise how I can pre-assign my 'showdetail' sheet to a variable?
