Highlight Part Of Cell Based On Input

I want to track winning football teams by highlighting the victor. So lets say I have a cell that contains

    Raiders @ Niners

and another cell containing "home" or "away" indicating the winner.

Based on the home/away cell, I want to either highlight Niners/Raiders.

    Help Please!

    Go Niners!!!

How do you indicate who won?

if the second cell contains "home" then the 2nd team won (niners), "away" means the 1st team won (raiders)

There's always easy ways and hard ways. If I were you, I would just put Raiders @ Niners in 3 separate cells ie |Raiders| @ |Niners| and then use conditional formatting on columns 1 and 3 to highlight the cell based on the contents of the cell containing home/away

Why not use Conditional formatting (as suggested by Mallycat) but on the one cell, Formula, if the other cell = "Home" set to pale green, second condition, Formula, if the other cell = "Away" set to some pale pinkish

Reason for green is that home wins are 'expected', the 'way-to-go' etc, whilst red is the colour of 'warning, to watch' etc.

    Hope this helps

They're right, conditional formatting is the way to go in your case. If you need help figuring that out, just search these forums for "Conditional Formatting". You'll find it sure enough.
