    Application UserName

Does anyone know where the user's name is being pulled from. The stranges thing is happening when I use the application.username method.

My operating system is Windows 2000 and when I log onto the system my username is e3utbl. Excel returns "e3utbl" as my username.

But another users is using Windows XP and when he logs onto the system, his username is r7uard. Excel returns his full name as it is in the address book in Outlook. Why is that and how do I get it to return the username that is being used when he logs in to Windows?

It is drawing it from excel, when you first logged on to excel the files would have been extracted and when excel started it would have come up with a box for you to enter a username but it would have been autofilled with your network name most folk just click ok thats how it gets there.

Run the code below and see what happens! (of course change the username and the name in the default filepath

    talytech,

Go to Tools > Options and look on the General Tab. The User Name listed on this tab is what my system picks up when I use Application.UserName.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I thought I would point it out.
    Sincerely,
    Jeff
