    Worksheet_Change function and circular reference error message

    Hi,

    I am using the Worksheet_Change function. In the sheet, I have cells that change their value when the value of another cell changes. I keep getting the error message: circular reference, even if at the beginning and at the end of the function respectively I have added:

    Application.EnableEvents = False

    Application.EnableEvents = True.

    All works fine except the awful error message. I need help to get rid of it! Anyone?

    Kindly,

    Nicole

    Hello Nicole_2007,

    The circular function reference applies to the worksheet formulae. The Worksheet Change event fires when any cell's value is changed. It doesn't care about what it is referencing. Excel has a built in tool to help you isolate circular references. On the main menu go to TOOLS > AUDITING. You can trace formula precedent cells or formula dependent cells. Excel will automatically draw trace lines on the worksheet so you call follow which cell is dependent on what other cells. If you have worksheet with lots of formulae, it can take a long time to isolate the problem.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross
