Macro to create a shortcut to insert any file into current excel workbook?

I'm trying to effectively create an 'attachment' button like you might find in a hotmail email account, so that there's a quick, simple way for people to inserrt any file into the workbook. I've tried recording a macro following the Insert/Object/Create from File route but only end up with a visual basic string for inserting a particular file, which I've been unsuccessful in altering to get where I want. Any bright ideas?

    Hello Matt.will,

You say you want to insert any file into the Excel workbook. First, why? You can easily hyperlink to any external file. Second, Excel is not a word processing program. It wasn't designed to import all file types. Can you provide a clearer example of what you want to do?

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

I've been asked to create a standard front-sheet to send to our subcontractors for them to email back to us with their invoice details attached in whatever form they like, be it excel, word, pdf, etc. When I say any file, I don't really mean any file type - 99.9% will end up as one of these three anyway. The idea of an 'attachments' button is because a lot of our subcontractors will have ver ybasic IT skills, so the simpler the better.

You're probably wondering why they can't just attach the documents to an email - I'm wondering exactly the same, but that's what 've been asked to do, all in the name of making our processes more 'lean'!
