    autopopulate using a macro question

    Hello,

I've got an autopopulate question, which I'm not sure can be done in Excel, so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated:

What I'm trying to do is in column A I have a drop down box that lists different kinds of fruit. The goal is, when the user selects a fruit from the drop down box, have column B autopopulate w/ the cost of the fruit and column C autopopulate w/ the charge of the fruit.

    I know I have to have all the data entered in somewhere on the spread sheet. So on Sheet 2 I have the list of fruit (A1 Apples, A2 Banana, A3 Pears, A4 Oranges), the Costs (B1 $1, B2 $2, B3 $4, B4 $2), and the Charge (C1 $3, C2 $5, C3 $5, C4 $3).

So when the user selects Apples in the drop down box in A1 on Sheet 1, I would like B1 on Sheet 1 to autopopulate with $1 and C1 on Sheet 1 to autopopulate with $3.

    does that make any sense?

I think this needs to be done w/ a macro but I'm not 100% sure. If anyone can point me in the right direction, that'd be great.

    Thanks,

It seems like your looking for the VLOOKUP function, you'll find all you need to know about it in the Excel help.
