Problem setting pivot table page filter

Through vba I've been trying to set page filters in a SQL Server 2005 cube based pivot table in Excel 2007.

When the code below is executed the field is already in the page section of the pivot table.

Three days ago this code simply worked, now suddenly it doesn't but that is not new unfortunately:
Before this Excel recorded filtering in the page section by using the visibleitems method, but suddenly, a few days later, the code hang and suddenly it would only record with the hiddenitems method, until that hung and it started recording with the addpageitem method.
Now it suddenly records again with the visibleitems method.
I'm pretty fed up with this. Does anybody have a clue what is happening here?
Also, I have Excel crashing multiple times a day sometimes and then it works for a week without crashing.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
