    XLA Add-In Error

    Hi guys,

A friend of mine sent me an XLA add-in. The add-in works fine for him but when I try to use it on my machine it gives me an error (see screenshot). He uses Excel 2003 while our office uses Excel 2007. Both OS are WinXP SP 2.

What can I do to get the add-in work for me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards, cs

I can't read the error messages. However, addins ifrom earlier versions of Excel are usually available in the Addins Tab of 2007's Ribbon.

It depends are the macro code, but I have found it much better to create Excel 2007 versions of my addins by customising the Ribbon & checking that all he code is compatible with 2007.

You could attach the addin by zipping it if you want someone to take a look at it.
    Hope that helps.

Thanks Roy. It won't be possible to share it because of company policy.

As I said, the images aren't readable on my screen, so you can try attaching downloadable images.

Adding to what Roy said, I would check what external libraries are referenced by the Add-In (in xl 2003) and ensure that all are present and available in xl2007.

    Thanks to both of you.

@Richard: How do I do that?

@Roy: I have uploaded the errors here:

To check the references open the VB Editor and in the Tools menu select References, missing ones should be listed.

Looking at the error mssages, it says that a component is missing, possibly a DatePicker? However, that should not cause the problem that removes the VBA project. I wouls suggest that if you want to use the addin then you need it checking & converting to 2007 format.

Thanks for all the help but it seems that I need to ask my friend to save it in excel 2007 format (somehow) and send it over.

    Thanks.

That won't work. Your friend would need Excel 2007 and you need the missing component(s)
