    Importing website data into excel

    I have a hyperlink located in a speadsheet cell which I can open using a macro. However, can anyone tell me how to automatically import or select and copy data from the newly opened web page and paste it into the excel worksheet?

    Hi,
    I have xl 2003
    Try this
    goto the
    data menu
    import external data
    web query
    enter the web address
    once you are on that site there should be yellow arrows on the screen
    to select the table click the specified yellow and it will enter on the screen
    I am not sure what happens from there but I am sure it updates automatically

    here is one explanation found it by searching "web query excel"

    Many thanks Dave, your suggestion even works using the record macro facility and can then be run automatically. Just what I was looking for.

    Incidentally, I am still using excel 2000 because it is much faster for data manipulation than excel 2003 or 2007. Excel 2000 doesn't have the yellow table markers on the web pages but it still loads the tables.

    Thanks again
    Astrikor.
