updating multiple files, how do I track files that give errors?

    Hi,

I've currently created a macro to update multiple XL files across a network. I come across issues if someone is accessing the file or someone moved the folder. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to prevent either of the above from happening.

What I'd like to do is first create a list of folders that weren't found. If the folder is found, I'd then like to create a list of files that are not accessible. I'd like to create the list in either the XL file that houses the macro or a text file, whichever is easier. That way, I can go back at another time and update the folders/files that had an error.

As always, thanks in advance for your help. I've learned a lot through this site and your contributions. /brownnosing

    Hi,

i figured out a good way to use the 'on error' statement and pasting the filename.

I still have to deal with how to get through the 'file locked for editing' message automatically.
