    username and password login

is it possible to set up usernames and passwords, with different priveleges for each? how is it done?

basically i want a user form that requires a username and a password to a) edit the workbook and b) read only - cant change anything

so i need 2 sets of passwords and username.
    Can anyone help?

    In Excel 2003 you can

    Tools Menu
    Options
    Security tab
    There are 2 password fields

If can set password either or both fields
The 1st one means a password is required to open the book
The 2nd one means a password is required to edit the book

Another option is to use the Tools > Protection Protect Sheet/ Protect Workbook option
This method is not as secure as the 1st method as it easy to crack/remove the password protection

Make sure you remember your passwords as forgetting them can cause huge problems

    Good morning dc123

I have a template that allows you, as the admin, to state all the users of a workbook, and which sheets they will see on either a read-only or read / write basis. When opening the workbook a user will have to enter their username and password. the only tabs they will see at the bottom will be what they are allowed access to. You, as administrator, will have full access to all worksheets.

If anyone requires this, PM me your e-mail address and I'll forward it on to you.

This workbook has a form that requires a username & password. It has a single user example & a multi user xample

for multi users you can set a level - Full or read Only

The user is allowed 3 attempts, if unsuccessful the workbook closes.

Thank You but its OK. I was able to take the first file he had posted and modify it to work properly for the user form I created. I was just curious what his mods looked like in his second version.
