Excel 2007 to Powerpoint 2007: Remains in memory

    Hello,

I have code, that was working properly in Office 2003, that updates a powerpoint presentation.

In Office 2007, everything works properly except that when I close powerpoint it remains in memory with the presentation open.

The next time you run the code it errors out when trying to save the presentation, saying that the presentation is still open.

    Code Snippet:

    Hello Kevin,

When launching a program using CreateObject, the application is terminated and stays resident (TSR) in memory. I can give some macro code to terminate a process you start in your code. This works with Excel 2000 - 2003. I don't have 2007 so I can't say for sure this will work. But give it try.

Here is what your code would look like now...

    Adding the Macro
    1. Copy the macro above pressing the keys CTRL+C
    2. Open your workbook
    3. Press the keys ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor
    4. Press the keys ALT+I to activate the Insert menu
    5. Press M to insert a Standard Module
    6. Paste the code by pressing the keys CTRL+V
    7. Make any custom changes to the macro if needed at this time
    8. Save the Macro by pressing the keys CTRL+S
    9. Press the keys ALT+Q to exit the Editor, and return to Excel.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Excel 2007 to Powerpoint 2007: Remains in memory - Semi-Solved

    Leith,

Thank you. I will try this out.

In 2003 the line 'Set objPPT = Nothing' worked.

After a lot of troubleshooting I have determined that the problem was in a SaveAs routine.

My code would open an existing ppt, populate the slides and then SaveAs another file name ppt.

When I eliminated the SaveAs it worked fine.

    I ended up with:
    1. Open ppt1
    2. Populate Slides
    3. Save ppt1
    4. Close ppt1
    5. FileCopy ppt1 to ppt2
    6. FileCopy pptMaster to ppt1

    Again, Thanks for the code,

    Kevin
