    Prevent overwriting file...

    How's it going, Gurus?

What's the best way to protect a workbook from being saved after changes are made to the workbook? Would it be to save it as a template, or to force a save as on workbook open, or something else entirely?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I am preventing this by forcing a SaveAs out to our shared drive when the user updates the workbook, so it automatically changes the name of the file. I have a cell that merges the client name and the manager and the file saves as that name in a specific folder.

It is being called by another macro that runs the update. I am an amatuer so someone else may have a better way.

    Thanks

That's the way I've done it in the past, and it seems to work pretty well, I was just curious if there was a better way.

Thanks for the reply, and have a good one.
