Use macro to search and retrieve data

    Hi,

I am an engineer using Excel to sort information. I am familiar with Excel, but not as much with writing Macros or using VBA. My problem is the following:

I need to match a multi-cell column of data (part configurations) to another column of data on a different worksheet (performance data associated with the given configuration). As the configuration of the parts changes, the associated performance column will also need to change as parts are upgraded.

I have a feeling there is a relatively easy way to do this using macros, and thus avoiding a relatively convoluted string of pivot tables, vlookups, and "if" statements.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be accomplished?

Like I said, I have limited experience with writing macros so you might have to include the basics.

    Thanks for the help.

You will have to post some example data with expected outcomes to clarify your needs.

You can use an addin like the htmlmaker 2.42 to paste html code for a snippet of your workbook or post the workbook to a site like mediafire.com and post the url here.

Not sure why vlookup and ifs would not suffice though.
