    True automatic update

    Hello,

Is there a macro or code that I can use that will automatically update my powerpoint as soon as the source excel file is changed? I want this update to happen without having to got through Edit > Links . Update Now.

So as soon as data in the excel source is modified, I want the powerpoint to represent that modification. Can anyone help? I've searched, but everything pretty much requires either closing the ppt and reopening it, or updated the links manually if the ppt is open.

    Thanks!

    mo

    Hello Moquenma,

What exactly are you updating in PowerPoint? What type of data are you pulling from the Excel sheet? Can you give a short example or explanation of what is happening?

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    Hello Moquenma,

These Excel charts and graphs are displayed in PowerPoint with the source data linked back to an Excel workbook or workbooks?

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Yes. They are linked; and I have the setting to automatic updates. However, they will only update if I go into Edit > Links > Update or when I close the powerpoint file and reopen it.

I would like to have a process that makes the updates almost instantaneous. As soon as the data in the excel file is changed, I want to see that change in the powerpoint without having to update the link.

    Hello Moquenma,

I don't use PowerPoint very much and program it using VBA even less. I haven't been able to work around your problem. That's not to say it can't be done, just I don't know how.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross
