    Doubleclick event???

    Hi Everyone

I had some help a few days ago and got given some help with a hyperlink that did not figure out quite how I wanted it. I needed to work in a way that on my work sheet I would have listed in column B
part numbers e.g 10062, I wanted it so the actual number could be double clicked and that would open acrobat 5.0 and then open a pdf file stored in this directry saved under the actual part number clicked on
    ChDir "P:\Design\PDF Standard Part Drawings"
The only problem is that I need the entire column from cell b10 onward to be formatted in this way so ny part numbers added can be used in the way above?

    Can anyone please help

    Many thanks

If I recall you had a formula to generate a hyperlink which should have opened the pdf. This is much simpler than using VBA, which must of course be enabled by the user.
    Hope that helps.

    Hello Roy

Thanks for your reply, Yeah you where one of the people who kindly helped me before, It did not open the pdf file, a message just comes up sayin cannot open this file, I was wondering if it is because adobe is not open at the same time so it doesnt regonise the format? and that way requires an extra column for the "click here"

Someone mentioned the double click event and I was hoping that would be the better way of doing what I need to do?

I would prefer it if the entire column was formatted and the user could simply click the part number and the drewing then opens, have you any ideas?

    Many Thanks

If the hyperlink is correct - path & filename then clicking the cell will open it.

Try using the Insert menu >- Hyperelink >- File. Browse for your pdf & click it. You may need to set the file type to all files.

You can then check if the formula is constructing the hyperlink correctly. This will be better than code I think.
