You don't need a macro, but a properly designed spreadsheet. Add a column for department & use the Subtotal feature from the data menu

    Hope that helps.

    Now little more critical issue

    Dear Friend,

Thanks for your reply. Now I have attached my real worksheet which contains lot of items has to be considered. Just go thru this. Pls guide me how can I make this sheet perfect.

    VAT - Value Addded Tax
    Excise - Excise Duty

Now in this sheet, for an item which contains different components. But at final I need to have single price for the item.

Let us consider an example entry

    Equipment Supply & Installation

Equipment Qty 3 Nos to which 10.5% VAT 8% Excise 7% OCT 5% FRI applicable.
Supports Qty 10 Nos to which 4% VAT 12%Excise 3%OCT 2% FRI applicable.
Insulation of Equipment Qty 3 Nos to which 12% VAT No Excise 3%OCT 5%FRI applicable.

You can see each and every row contains some formulas.

I dont know how to make subgrouping of rows. Thats why just adding additional column for additional items. But I failed to apply the appropriate taxes to the corresponding items in my sheet. To avoid this only I asked how to make sub grouping of rows. So that I can enter these items one by one in my sheet and I can get the total of this item by subgrouping it.

One more query is, I want to add some rows in between. But it should contains all the formuals as per sheet. How to do it?

    Please guide me.

Please go thru the attached sheet and help me to solve my query.

    Thanks

I think you might be able to use the SUMIF Function

    With little explanation

No, You couldnt get my point. Just try to enter the details which I have given in my last post. Even it has 3 items, finally the total only i need. If I try to enter in a single row, I need to add 3 Basic price column. Even If I add, I couldnt enter the tax correctly to the respective items. But If I enter in one by one in every row, then i can enter all the details correctly. But I couldnt get the total of that. Like wise I will have lot of items in the cost sheet. Each and every item i need to prepare subtotalling. Then final grand total.

    Can u guide me?
