data extraction and modification

hi,

i would be getting daily end of day data from exchange and need to make some modifications so that i can use for analysis.

my objective is to extract columns.

suppose i have 4 columns of data in A, B, C and D. the first row contains headings as name, tradedate, expirydate and closeprice. the first column contains (under name) security name. i have data like this running upto 150 rows. now i would like to do is

a) extract few rows of data from the sheet into new sheet by referencing to names in another notepad.
b) create another column named as symbol based on the values of tradedate and expirydate and name columns and append to the data file.
c) delete the column expirydate.

thanks for the reply. i am quite comfortable with autofilter will not be of help for me in this case. in the excel that i will get everyday there will 50 different commodities names and with 3 different expirydates. so total number of rows would be 150. out of this i would like to extract only 10 commodities on every day basis and do the modifications as i described in first post.

this process happens everyday and takes atleast 1/2hr to 1hr of time. if i am having a macro it would be much simplified.
