Multiplication table - really cool one

I would like to create a mulitplication table to help my kids learn!

I thought about doing something like you see here
    HTML Code:
on this web site but instead of dragging the mouse over the numbers.. .in the excel sheet click the number and the color changes. I've posted the sheet I started so take a shot at it and your idea may be better than mine! I'm easy....

Have fun and thanks for your help!

    Hello Tortus,

Do you want the answer to appear below like the table on the other site? What do you want to change color - the number or the background? What coloe do you want to use?

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    Hello Tortus,

I made some changes to your original table while I was waiting for you to answer. The table will highlight the horizontal and vertical rows that intersect at the answer. The answer is displayed in a message box. The column and row headers are turned off, and column has be expanded to center the table. See the attached picture. I will make whatever changes you like to it.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

This is cool. What if I were to make another sheet and in that sheet have traditional multiplication questions like 3X4=..etc. and leave the answer blank. If the correct answer is manually put in the cell, the cell is conditioned formatted to turn green and a windows sound of clapping... can that happen?

Oh! And a button to randomize the questions!! Man I ask for alot!

I really want to know how to do this... I see the code and can copy it and play with it but I just cant grasp how to do this stuff from scratch... How long have you writen VB Leith?

    Hello Tortus,

What you want to do is possible. I don't have a wav or mdi file of clapping. The sound file can be called by and run by a macro. The equations can randomized as well. I need some time to pull this together, like a day or two. To answer your question about how long I have been doing VBA programming, it has been 10 years.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

    Tortus / Leith

I downloaded attached file a long time ago for my grandchildren.

Maybe another one to teach kids.

    Regards.

    Hello John,

Thanks for sharing that. The worksheet could be printed and the tables cut out individually for study.

    Thanks,
    Leith Ross

Yes Leith, I made it for the grandchildren in the hope they would study it and remember most of it. That is the sheet with the printed tables.

The zip file also has an interesting workbook. I still use it every so once in a while, just for fun.

    Regards.

    John

    Hello John,

Very nice, I think this meets most of what Tortus is looking for. Definitely a keeper.

Thats really cool! What I'll do is combine the two sheets into one workbook. This should help them learn. They play a game called Timez Attach and I think that helps them also.. the free version. Check that out if you get a chance.

    Thanks for all the help!
