    create a macro for a monitoring system

    Hi. i have no experience with macros at all but i need to create a macro for work that will keep the original data entered but work out the difference between new data collected each day.

    ive attached the spreadsheet to give you an idea of how i need to set this out. any help will be appreciated, thanks

    It doesn't give me any idea of what you're trying to do. Maybe you could explain.

    ok well we took readings of certain marks placed on a building. these were recorded as the base readings. inorder to monitor the building to make sure it isnt moving while construction around it goes on, we need to take the same readings to the same marks on a daily basis.

    the new readings taken each day are uploaded into excel. i need to format the spreadsheet so that it contains the base readings, the difference in value from the previous day, and the difference in values from today.

    on a seperate spreadsheet, but i just bring them into the same one to make it easy. readings for the first difference is placed under the marked in values

    well my boss recomended i do it this way, as he sees it as a tedious process to go through. i dont mind doing it manually but he has asked me to set one up.

    What's the significance of the Point Names? They are different in the various columns, including the data confusingly labeled "Difference with Previous," which is actually new new readings and not differences (correct?).

    This could be done more easily if the point names were consistent, and all the readings appeared in 5 columns: Point name, date, x, y, z. Then the next three columns could contain Δx, Δy, and Δz (or Δdistance) from the baseline (original) measurements.

    wow thats awsome. thanks heaps for the hand in setting it up. ill work of what youve given me and maybe forget about the macros altogether.
