Moving multiple values from Column A to adjacent columns

I am playing around with occurrences, and probabilities. I want to move multiple values separated by commas, colons and semilcolons to adjacent colums for a data sort. Example Cell A1 [9-20-1996; 5,24,31,34,48; Money Ball: 6] I want to move the date to cell B1, then each number in the series to c1, d1, e1 etc thru H1. I have 1200 cells give or take to sort and manual data entry is tedious. Can a macro or simple program, read the data enter the value, read next value and enter it in the next designated cell, enter in the next column etc. Basically read the cell data and move the individual values to assigned cells? I'm sorry ProtonLeah but I'm not familiar with how to execute "Text to columns." Forgive my ignorance but I haven't heard of it and the help files don't give me much to go on when I searched for "Text to Columns." I understand what you're telling me but I don't know how to execute. Thanks for the tip!
