Following signals to display different values

I'm developing a financial model where several buy and sell signals are generated based on historical prices and "rules" that I've entered into the spreadsheet. I was wondering if there was a way to program excel to recognize when the cell says buy, and if so, check to see if there are other buy signals before it looks for a sell signal. Also, whenever it reaches a buy signal, I want it to input the price and number of shares (both are already in the spreadsheet) and do the same when it sees a sell signal. Can this be done?
