    Add-ins & Multiple Spreadsheet Users

    Hi,
I've created a model that uses an add-in to calculate otherwise cumbersome formulas, and 4 or so people need to access this model at any given time. It's saved (along with the add-in) in a public folder on our network drive. Everyone is able to access the model, and is able to load the add-in directly from that folder, but the cells that use the add-in point to where the add-in is stored locally on my drive (C:\Documents and Settings\me\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns) and thus they are not able to use the add-in functions without redirecting every reference to me with references to their add-ins (basically just by finding and replacing every 'me' with 'them' in those cells at this point). So I guess what I'm wondering is how do I make it so the add-in is 'universal' (instead of local) such that as long as each user has the add-in loaded they can fire up the model and use the needed functions. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I suspect something in your code is to blame, it's difficult to know without seeing the addin or some of the code.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi,
This is a pretty common problem with add-ins and UDFs. There's a great article here by MVP Jan Karel Pieterse on the subject.

Thanks for the response. That seems like exactly what I'm looking for. I'll try to follow along but I'm virtually clueless when it comes to VB, though. Any tips?

Can anyone dumb this down for me or take me through it step by step? As I mentioned, this seems like it should solve my problem entirely, but I'm not conversant on any level when it comes to the code or VB. Before anyone flames me, I've spent a few hours wading through it again and again and downloaded the demo but can't seem to get it to work or really make heads or tails of what process I should be following. While I'm certainly motivated to learn at this point, I don't really have the time to get to this level of expertise as my deadline is closing in rapidly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've spent a tremendous amount of time on this model and it works perfectly on a standalone basis for me, but I need it to be available to others as well, and this is the last hurdle.

    Thanks!

It's a good tutorial, you need to ask specific questions on what you son't understand.

Why not attach the addin for us to check the code?
