automatically close file and save changes with a new name

The problem that I am trying to fix is that I have two computers networked together both with multiple users all with access to the report form that I am using which is in the shared file. If I have been working on it (I am still trying to do improvements when I have time), and I have to leave for a fire or forget to close the report, no one can access it other than with read-only. My idea was to run some type of code that either when the screen saver comes on or after so much time with no activity, it would close and save the file with a new file name(just in case I don't want the changes that I have made in the code or something).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Shouldn't it be read-only for anyone other than you, anyway? If someone needs to run the report and save it for their records, they should be saving a copy for themselves, anyway. They shouldn't be re-writing your file.
I just realized recently that this is a common mis-conception about "read-only" with some of the users of the reports that I have created.

I have a few reports written that all of my salespeople need to use through-out the day at the same time. Some of them did not realize that they could still use the report if someone else was in it.

Read-only means that the file can not be saved as the same name, but it still has the same functionality.

    Thanks for the information.

I guess that I had the same misconception. I will try it just for my own first hand knowledge. Is there a way to automatically activate the read-only button if the message box comes up stating that the file is locked for editing?
