Excel VBA problem - possibly ocx/dll issue

hi all,
I have a spreadsheet with some code in it - nothing more than a handfull of functions among which I have a calendar control.
This control gave me some trouble when running this spreadsheet on different machines - sometimes it seems the calendar dlls are older versions and I have to register the newer versions for the spreadsheet to work.

Now I am confronted with a new problem. I need to add one line of code to print some value in a cell.
I get the old version, open it, add the line, save it and I see the older version is around 300 KB, the new saved version of the spreadsheet is around 200 KB. Could this be related to the calendar control as well?

Excel 2002, XP SP3
Can anyone tell me what is happening?
Thanks,
elsvieta

The calendar controls can cause problems if it is not installed on a PC or an older version, there's some alternatives here

I wouldn't think the control is responsible for the size issue
Hope that helps.

OK,
what else could cause the size problem? I don't remember seeing something like that ...
As a matter of fact, I tried to open the 300 K file on three different computers and they all saved a new version of 100 K less ...
Have no idea why?

Thanks,

Hello elsvieta,

Excel tries to "guess" how much additional space you might need. I don't know all the factors that are considered in the decision process, but the user's system hardware and software come into play. It really isn't anything to worry about. If you have ever zipped a workbook, you've seen how much unused space there is in the workbook.
Sincerely,
Leith Ross

1. Use code tags. Place
before the first line of code and
after the last line of code.
