Is there any way I can integrate a macro into Excel so that, in order to run it, I could just hit a shortcut key? In other words, is there any way I can make the macro not part of a certain workbook, but rather, part of Excel itself?

You can store the macro in your PERSONAL.xls or create an addin (*.xla). See Ron de Bruin
