Yes, you can do it. How it is done depends on which browser you are using. Internet Explorer is by far the easiest to transfer data from as it supports ActiveX controls. For security reason's other browsers do not.
I haven't come across any tutorials on the subject. Perhaps someone else can provide you with that information. It doesn't seem to be a well documented.

I think Access is usually used not Excel
