Smile userform to open saved worksheets

    Hi Guys,

I am looking to put together a simple userform to open a saved worksheet from another directory.

    can this be done

it will be simply 1 text box and an open button, then when the worksheet is edited a save button to overwrite and save with the same name as it was.

    cheers

I think you mean workbook not worksheet.

You want the form to open a specific workbook, edit it & save it?
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Roy

Not quite, the invoice number is entered into the userform, it opens the workbook (yes not sheet) I edit the workbook then save over the original

Why edit an existing Invoice, surely that's not good for accounting.

I take it you are saving each Invoice as a separate workbook, that can be messy. Yo need to have a ListBox in the UserForm which reads & lists each file in the folder.

I don't understand what you mean by over writing, if you open a workboo theneit 7 save you don't need to over write.

    Hi Roy,
our invoicing is done in excel then put on to sage, the editing happens before it goes onto sage.

the invoices are saved to a network folder, also one liners are put into weekly figures page and also stored by customers, the overwriting bit is the one liners it needs to reference the one liners and update the totals nothing else.

the listbox reading the contents of the folder sounds good, I thought a message box with one text box user types the invoice number in and presses a button and it copies the content of the workbook into the invoice sheet then the editing is done then that invoice is saved and the one liners are updated...
sounds messy but our accounts lady is giving me grief.....

    cheers

It does sound very messy & I am amazed that any accounts personnel would want to allow invoices to be edited.

Can you attach a couple of dummy files.

    Hi Roy

My thoughts as well, although its altered before they go into sage......

more of a communication error on the other members of staff not giving her the info to begin with..

I will try and put some stuff together later

    cheers
