    3rd degree polynomials

Anyone have a macro or add-in that can calculate the roots for x of a 3rd degree polynomial (given x and y values)? Thanks. I can post some dummy sample data if necessary.

    Solver comes to mind.

You could code the closed-form solutions yourself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cubic_function) and then share them with us ...

Or buy a commercial package -- http://polynomial-roots.qarchive.org/ looks promising.
