    traffic light function?

    Hello all. An intriguing question, I never found an answer anywhere ....
    I want to include a simple dashboard-light, which turns green, yellow or red, dependent on a value, eg in A1. [like the one appearing after my name]
    A1<100 => light turns green
    A1 100-500 => light turns yellow
    A1 >500 => light turns red
    Does something like this exist? Preferably in VBA code?
    Appreciate any solution!
    Thanks, Kees

    Kees, it would really help if you updated your profile with the Excel version you're using, especially since Excel 2007 and later has built-in traffic light functionality that is quite different from Excel 2003.

    cheers

    Teylin, of course you're right; just updated my profile (by the way I use Excel 2003, SP3)

    But unfortunately > this is the simple Conditional Formatting of a cell.
    I would be very pleased to include a separate "lightbulb" somewhere on my Excelsheet, which turns green/yellow/red when a certain condition is met. Something like a separate illustration which changes dependent on this condition. Hope this is possible some way ...

    Kees, have a look at this:

    Although Charles Kyd uses a whole graph with a traffic light background, the same principle can be applied to other images ....

    Thank you Teylen for all your efforts. I learned a lot. What I actually was looking for is described in the reply of Andy > "real" traffic lights which can be switched to red-yellow-green. Very nice!
