    Automatically copying down Conditional Formatting

Hello, I have a Worksheet which I will keep adding data to new rows – I have set the sheet up so it has conditional formatting.

My issue is, if I copy the conditional formatting to all the blank rows, when we come to print the sheet it prints the blank rows.

I know you can set the print area but this isn’t ideal for some of our more novice users so I was wondering is there a bit of code which can copy the conditional formatting down to each new row where there is data?

    Thanks,
    Tom

Hi, there is no need for any macros if you use the Excel List feature in 2003. (in Excel 2007 it is called Table).

Make sure your data table has no blank rows or blank columns. Then click anywhere in the data table and go Data - Lists - create List. Specify if the list has headers and click OK.

Now you see a fat blue border around the data table, which identifies it as a list. When you click inside the list, a new, blank row will be added to the list. All formulas and formatting will carry over to the new row. You can also insert a row somewhere in the middle, of course.

Is that something that might work for you?

Hi thanks for your response - I tried that and it does work to some degree. However, my issue being the sheet imports external data.

The List option doesn't allow me to keep this connection.

Is there another solution or a way to keep the external data in the list?
