    Copy ONLY fill color

I posted this question on another forum, with no success...

I need to copy only the fill color of certain cells to other ranges, not the number formats, borders, alignment, etc. The cells to which I want to copy the background colors might be single rows or columns or several rows by columns in size, so I would prefer to highlight the cells to be colored, rather than all the rows/columns etc.

If the "standard" Excel palette colors were used it would have been simple, but that's not the case.

Trust I've not over-complicated my question!

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Copy ONLY fill color

You can store the .colorindex of the cell to copied in a variable.

Then later, when you've defined your target range of cells, you can apply that colorindex value to the range.

Hi antonf, I'm not sure I even see the question.

you want to "highlight" the cells before changing the fill color? What do you mean by that?
Re colours: if you're not using Excel standard palette colors, what colors are you using? You can use the palette number index on a custom palette.

Maybe you explain a bit more?

Sorry - I mean highlighting the area to be 'colored', like in a "normal" apply special format case...
