    Parsing out data after &

    Greetings all,

I need some parsing help again, tried modifying the VBA code from my last post, but couldn't get it to work. I've got a column of data that I'm trying to normalize. Currently it includes name information for two people (first & spouse_first spouse_last). The last name of the record holder is in another field. I would like to break out spouse into a separate column, using the "&" to indicate where to split. Would it be possible to erase the parsed data from the original column too at the same time? Any ideas?

    Thank you so much!

    Hi,

How about using text to columns, with the & as delimiter?
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

"Tomorrow I'm going to be famous. All I need is a tennis racket and a hat".

    Hi Sweep,

Thanks for the recommendation; I haven't used text to columns before. It worked, but also added a space before the spouses name. Any ideas how to get rid of that?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

Got it. I used the trim spaced add-in to remove the extra spaces. Thanks again for the help!
