merging similar rows and adding total

    Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum so thank you for your patience and assistance.

I have a worksheet with several thousand lines. I am working with 4 separate cells. Is there a way i can combine rows, that are similar in 3 cells (matching date, color, sku #) then adding the 4th cell (units) and giving me the total?

    example:

    Date Color Sku Units
    2/12 black 78382 2
    2/12 black 78382 4

    total: 2/12 black 78382 6

I cannot sum the total if either the date, color or sku does not match. Also i need to either delete the rows that were summed together, or put the new compiled date onto the sheet 2.

    Thank you once again.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
    Hope that helps.

A pivot table should do exactly what you are after.
